As a member of the Salt Therapy Association, Himalayan Source strengthens its mission of educating others in the benefits of salt therapy, or halotherapy. They continue to work to bring awareness and promote the benefits of halotherapy as it supports respiratory health.
Founded in 2014, the Salt Therapy Association (STA) provides resources, information, research and standards to support, promote and create awareness about halotherapy. STA is the largest organization of salt therapy facilities, professionals, and enthusiasts in the world, with members in the United States, Canada, Ireland, China, Bulgaria, Netherlands, Australia, and New Zealand.
By breathing in pharmaceutical-grade salt microparticles from a halogenerator, the anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antibacterial properties of Himalayan salt opens airways, reducing airflow obstruction and mucus. As the salt air clears allergens and pollutants from the lungs, it prevents the growth of bacteria. Dry salt therapy has been credited with a positive effect on respiration and oxygen flow, skin conditions, tension, stress and general wellness. Breathing in aerosolized salt microparticles helps cleanse the respiratory tract and strengthen lung function by stimulating the body’s internal processes. Himalayan salt — the only salt used in these halotherapy experiences — contains 84 naturally occurring minerals and salts with research-proven health benefits for users.
Continuing our commitment to educating others about the benefits of Halotherapy, Himalayan Source is proud to be a Gold Level Sponsor for the 2021 World Halotherapy Association Conference. The virtual conference on December 7, 2021, will focus on salt therapy with various global speakers across the salt and wellness industries. This year’s event is free, but registration is required.
The World Halotherapy Association (WHA) is a physician-backed association whose mission is to ensure a global standard of excellence in the Halotherapy industry. Additionally, the WHA strives to train, educate and support those working in the Halotherapy industry – from small startups to day spas, wellness centers, and suppliers – of a deeper understanding of the disease state, ensuring proper equipment performance, and aiding in the successful execution of business operations.
Additionally, Himalayan Source’s partner Ann Brown is vice chair of the Global Wellness Institute Salt and Halotherapy Initiative. The Salt and Halotherapy Initiative investigates the effects of salt therapies and provides guidance to businesses and spa practitioners who want to understand and best utilize salt therapy to benefit their clientele by bringing together sharp minds and dynamic personalities from the spa and wellness industry who are passionate about the power and potential of salt therapies.
